Preheat the air fryer to 400°F (200°C). Most models take 3–5 minutes. Preheating helps the breading crisp up quickly.
Arrange the fish sticks in a single layer. Don’t stack or crowd them. Leave a little space between each stick so air can circulate. If your air fryer is small, cook in batches.
Optional: Lightly spray with oil. A quick mist adds crunch, especially if your fish sticks aren’t pre-oiled. Avoid drenching; a light touch is enough.
Cook for 8–10 minutes total. Start with 8 minutes and check. Flip halfway through (around the 4–5 minute mark) for even browning.
Check for doneness. The fish sticks should be deep golden and crisp on the outside and hot throughout. If needed, add 1–2 more minutes.
Season immediately after cooking. If you’re adding extra spices or a sprinkle of salt, do it while the sticks are hot so it sticks to the surface.
Serve hot. Pair with dipping sauce, lemon wedges, and a quick side like a salad, steamed veggies, or fries.
