Healthy Garlic Shrimp Air Fryer - Quick, Flavorful, and Light

Prep Time 10 minutes
Cook Time 8 minutes
Pre-heat 4 minutes
Total Time 22 minutes
Servings 4 servings

Ingredients

  • 1 pound large shrimp (16–20 count), peeled and deveined, tails on or off
  • 2 tablespoons extra-virgin olive oil
  • 4 cloves garlic, finely minced
  • 1 teaspoon lemon zest
  • 2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice
  • 1/2 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional, for heat)
  • 1/2 teaspoon kosher salt, plus more to taste
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley (or cilantro)
  • Lemon wedges, for serving
  • Olive oil spray (optional, for the basket)

Instructions

  • Prep the shrimp: Pat the shrimp dry with paper towels. Dry shrimp sear better and don’t steam in the air fryer.
  • Make the seasoning: In a bowl, mix olive oil, minced garlic, lemon zest, lemon juice, smoked paprika, red pepper flakes (if using), salt, and black pepper.
  • Toss to coat: Add the shrimp and stir until evenly coated. Let sit for 5 minutes while you preheat.
  • Preheat the air fryer: Set to 390°F (200°C) for 3–4 minutes. Lightly spray the basket if sticking is a concern.
  • Arrange the shrimp: Place shrimp in a single layer in the basket. Avoid overlapping for even cooking.
  • Air fry: Cook for 5–7 minutes, flipping once halfway. Shrimp are done when pink, opaque, and slightly curled into a loose “C.”
  • Finish with herbs: Transfer to a bowl and toss with chopped parsley. Taste and add a pinch more salt or a squeeze of lemon if needed.
  • Serve: Plate with lemon wedges. Great over brown rice, cauliflower rice, pasta, or a crunchy salad.
