Total Time 25 minutes
Servings 4 servings

Ingredients

  • Frozen breakfast potatoes (diced, O’Brien, or hash brown cubes)
  • Cooking oil spray or 1–2 teaspoons of neutral oil (optional)
  • Salt and black pepper
  • Optional seasonings: garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, paprika, chili powder, Cajun seasoning, or Italian seasoning
  • Optional add-ins: diced bell peppers, onions (if not using O’Brien), cooked bacon bits, shredded cheddar, chopped fresh parsley or chives

Instructions

  • Preheat the air fryer: Set to 400°F (200°C) for about 3 minutes. A hot basket helps create a crispy crust.
  • Prep the potatoes: If your frozen potatoes are clumped, break them apart. No need to thaw. Lightly spray with oil or toss with a teaspoon of oil for extra crunch. Season with salt, pepper, and any spices you like.
  • Load the basket: Add potatoes in a single layer with a little space between pieces. Do not overfill. If you have more than a single layer, cook in batches for best results.
  • Air fry: Cook at 400°F (200°C) for 10–14 minutes, shaking the basket halfway through. Start checking around the 8-minute mark—smaller cubes cook faster than larger chunks.
  • Make them extra crispy: For deeper color, add 2–3 more minutes at the end. Taste and adjust salt and pepper.
  • Finish and serve: Toss with fresh herbs, a pinch of paprika, or a sprinkle of cheese while hot. Serve with eggs, avocado, or your favorite breakfast protein.
