Ingredients

  • Bread: English muffins, brioche buns, or sturdy sandwich bread
  • Eggs: Large eggs (1 per sandwich)
  • Bacon: Regular-cut or thick-cut, depending on your preference
  • Cheese: Cheddar, American, provolone, or Swiss
  • Butter or mayo: For spreading on the bread
  • Seasoning: Salt, black pepper
  • Optional add-ons: Hot sauce, mustard, avocado, tomato slices, spinach, arugula, red onion
  • Optional for shaping the egg: Small ramekin or silicone egg ring (oven-safe)
  • Nonstick spray or parchment: For the air fryer basket

Instructions

  • Preheat the air fryer: Set to 375°F (190°C). Lightly spray or line the basket to prevent sticking.
  • Cook the bacon: Lay bacon in a single layer in the basket. Air fry for 6–8 minutes, flipping halfway. Cook time depends on thickness. Transfer to a paper towel to drain.
  • Toast the bread: Split your English muffin or slice your bread. Lightly spread butter or mayo on the cut sides. Air fry cut-side up for 2–3 minutes until golden.
  • Cook the egg: You have two options: Ramekin method: Lightly grease a small, oven-safe ramekin. Crack in an egg, season with salt and pepper, and place in the air fryer. Cook 4–6 minutes for set whites and a jammy yolk (longer for fully set).
  • Free-form method: Place a small square of parchment in the basket. Crack the egg onto it, season, and air fry 3–5 minutes until the white is set to your liking.
  • Melt the cheese: Place cheese on the bottom half of the warm bread and air fry for 30–45 seconds until just melted.
  • Assemble: Layer bacon over the cheese, add the egg, and finish with any extras like hot sauce or greens. Cap with the top half of the bread.
  • Optional re-crisp: For an extra-crunch finish, put the assembled sandwich back in the air fryer for 1 minute at 350°F (175°C).
  • Serve: Eat right away while the bread is crisp, the bacon is crunchy, and the cheese is gooey.
