Air Fryer Frozen Onion Rings

Cook Time 12 minutes
Pre-heat 5 minutes
Total Time 17 minutes

Ingredients

  • Frozen onion rings: Any brand or style (beer-battered, panko, or classic breaded).
  • Oil spray (optional): Avocado or olive oil spray for extra crispness.
  • Seasoning (optional): Kosher salt, black pepper, garlic powder, paprika, or a pinch of cayenne.
  • Dipping sauces (optional): Ketchup, ranch, chipotle mayo, honey mustard, barbecue sauce, or fry sauce.

Instructions

  • Preheat your air fryer to 400°F (200°C) for 3–5 minutes. Preheating helps the coating set quickly, which boosts crispness.
  • Arrange the rings in a single layer. Don’t thaw. Place frozen onion rings directly into the basket. Avoid stacking—overcrowding leads to soggy spots.
  • Lightly spray with oil (optional). A quick mist can enhance browning, especially for thicker beer-battered rings.
  • Air fry for 8–12 minutes, shaking the basket halfway. Start checking at the 7–8 minute mark. Thin rings cook faster; thick, beer-battered rings may need the full 12 minutes.
  • Season immediately after cooking. Sprinkle with salt or your favorite seasoning while they’re hot so it sticks.
  • Serve right away. Onion rings are best hot and fresh. Pair with your favorite dips and enjoy.
