Preheat your air fryer to 400°F (200°C) for 3–5 minutes. Preheating helps the coating set quickly, which boosts crispness.
Arrange the rings in a single layer. Don’t thaw. Place frozen onion rings directly into the basket. Avoid stacking—overcrowding leads to soggy spots.
Lightly spray with oil (optional). A quick mist can enhance browning, especially for thicker beer-battered rings.
Air fry for 8–12 minutes, shaking the basket halfway. Start checking at the 7–8 minute mark. Thin rings cook faster; thick, beer-battered rings may need the full 12 minutes.
Season immediately after cooking. Sprinkle with salt or your favorite seasoning while they’re hot so it sticks.
Serve right away. Onion rings are best hot and fresh. Pair with your favorite dips and enjoy.
