Preheat your air fryer to 400°F (200°C). Most models take 3–5 minutes. Preheating helps the nuggets get extra crisp.
Arrange the nuggets in a single layer. Don’t stack them. A little space between pieces is key to even browning. If you’re cooking a lot, plan on doing two batches.
Optional: Lightly spray or brush with oil. This boosts crunch and color, especially for nuggets with lighter breading. Skip if your nuggets already look well-coated.
Air fry for 8–10 minutes, flipping halfway. At the 4–5 minute mark, shake the basket or turn the nuggets for even crisping.
Check for doneness. They should be golden and hot throughout. If you like them extra crispy, add 1–2 more minutes. Internal temp should reach 165°F (74°C) if you check with a thermometer.
Season and serve. While hot, sprinkle with a little salt, garlic powder, or paprika for a flavor boost. Plate with your favorite dips.
Timing tips: Minis or thin nuggets usually take 7–9 minutes. Larger, thicker, or “whole breast” nuggets may need 10–12 minutes. Different brands vary, so use color and texture as your guide.
