Preheat the air fryer: Set to 400°F (200°C) for 3–5 minutes.
A hot basket helps the shrimp cook evenly.
Prep the shrimp: Pat shrimp dry with paper towels. Dry shrimp sear better and won’t steam.
Make the garlic mix: In a bowl, combine olive oil (or melted butter), minced garlic, smoked paprika, salt, pepper, red pepper flakes, and lemon zest. Stir to coat.
Toss to coat: Add shrimp to the bowl and mix until each piece is evenly covered.
Let sit 5 minutes while the fryer finishes heating.
Arrange in the basket: Lightly spray the basket if needed. Place shrimp in a single layer with a little space between them. Work in batches if necessary.
Air fry: Cook for 5–7 minutes, flipping halfway.
Shrimp are done when pink, opaque, and slightly curled into a “C” shape. Avoid overcooking.
Finish with lemon and herbs: Transfer to a bowl, squeeze over the lemon juice, and toss with parsley. Taste and adjust salt if needed.
Serve hot: Add lemon wedges on the side.
Great over rice, with crusty bread, or on top of a simple salad.
