Cajun Shrimp in Air Fryer

Cajun Shrimp in Air Fryer - Quick, Flavor-Packed Seafood

Prep Time 10 minutes
Cook Time 8 minutes
Pre-heat 3 minutes
Total Time 21 minutes
Servings 4 servings

Ingredients

  • Raw shrimp (1 to 1.5 pounds), peeled and deveined, tails on or off
  • Cajun seasoning (1.5 to 2 tablespoons)
  • Olive oil or avocado oil (1 to 2 tablespoons)
  • Garlic powder (1 teaspoon)
  • Paprika (optional, 1/2 teaspoon for extra color)
  • Lemon (1, for juice and zest)
  • Salt and black pepper (to taste; adjust if your Cajun blend is salty)
  • Fresh parsley or green onions (optional, for garnish)
  • Cooking spray (for the air fryer basket, optional)

Instructions

  • Prep the shrimp: Pat the shrimp dry with paper towels. Dry shrimp brown better and avoid steaming in the air fryer.
  • Season: In a bowl, toss shrimp with oil, Cajun seasoning, garlic powder, paprika (if using), a pinch of salt, and a few cracks of black pepper. Add a little lemon zest for brightness.
  • Preheat the air fryer: Set it to 390°F (200°C) for 3 minutes. A hot basket helps the shrimp crisp at the edges.
  • Arrange: Lightly spray the basket if needed. Lay the shrimp in a single layer with space between them. Cook in batches if necessary.
  • Air fry: Cook for 5 to 7 minutes, flipping once halfway. Shrimp are done when they turn pink and opaque with a slight curl into a “C” shape.
  • Finish: Squeeze fresh lemon juice over the shrimp and sprinkle with chopped parsley or green onions. Taste and add a pinch more Cajun seasoning if you want extra kick.
  • Serve: Enjoy immediately over rice, tucked in warm tortillas, on a salad, or alongside roasted veggies.
